Caribbean Mystery, ACaribbean Mystery, A (1989)

IMDB rating: 6.70

Plot: Although Miss Marple wants only to bask quietly at a West Indian resort, she is badgered with boring reminiscences by an overly talkative ex-soldier and policeman, Major Palgrave. Although he claims to possess a picture of a murderer, Miss Marple is more interested in her omnipresent knitting than his long-winded stories. After the hard-drinking Major dies that night of an apparent heart attack, the maid tells her that the blood pressure medication found in his room belongs to another guest. When she later learns that the incriminating picture is missing and the maid is found stabbed to death, Miss Marple correctly predicts that more murders will follow.

Which is your favorite Agatha Christie novel Miss Marple?
And don’t forget to tell me why!

I would have to say my favorites are A Murder Is Announced, A Caribbean Mystery, and The Mirror Crack’d From Side To Side.

WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER.
Thanks for the suggestion, Phoenix Tears, but I have ready ALL the Agatha Christie novels at least 3 times. You could say I’m a HUGE A.C. fan. You’re right, I also like the Poirot novels better, but I was curious as to what people thought of the 13 Miss Marple books (yeah, Nemesis was fantastic, too). ;)

Some of the Hercule Poirot books can’t be beaten, but I have a soft spot for Miss Marple. She appears to be nothing more than a snoopy, gossipy old lady but she’s as sharp as a tack and never fooled by what people tell her about themselves.

I actually enjoyed Nemesis more than A Caribbean Mystery, because that image of Miss Marple as the avenger, Nemesis, looks out of character but is perfect.

I love The Tuesday Club Murders. This group of people are supposedly telling each other mysteries they’ve encountered (or made up), but mixed in there is a mystery which hasn’t taken place yet. Miss Marple figures this out and warns the person not to commit the murder he/she is contemplating. It’s great.

The Moving Finger is another one I really enjoyed. It’s a clever idea to have a murderer disguise his/her (I’m trying to disguise the identity for anyone who reads this but hasn’t read the story) real intentions by writing poison-pen letters to various people before committing murder.

Sleeping Murder was another really good one, because buried memories reveal a murder which had taken place years before; a murder, too, which was previously unknown.

I love all of them, though.

Mine are A Murder is Announced (because the murderer is so unexpected), Murder at the Vicarage (because it’s so well-written), and Nemesis. (Nemesis is the sequel to A Caribbean Mystery, so you might want to read it.)
However, I definitely prefer the Hercule Poirot series. They’re amazing! If you’re intrested in trying them out, The Mysterious Affair at Styles is the first.

i worship you…i thought i was the biggest agatha christie fan! i’d have to say there’s a three way tie for my favorite miss marple…the mirror crack’d, 4:50 from paddington and a murder is announced all are awesome! i do like hercule poirot too, my favorite of his is either cat among the pigeons or murder on the orient express.
